Finishing in fifth place Emma Thomas ran the time of 20:35, and Sierra Rencountre placed 15th with the time of 21:38. There were 44 girls in the five-kilometer varsity race.

For both of the races the top 20 advance to the state meet. Emma Thomas, Sierra Rencountre, Luke Sinclair and Carson Klundt are the 2019 cross-country qualifiers. The state meet will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Huron. The boys’ class B race starts at 1:30 p.m., and the girls’ class B race starts at 2:30 p.m. The award presentation starts at 3:00 p.m.

“I am very proud of this year’s team. They worked very hard this season to get themselves to where they are right now. I can’t wait to see what the state meet will bring the team,” said Coach Voigt.

The team will be working hard this upcoming week to prepare for the state meet. Cheer the cross-country team on as they finish their season.
