Last Wednesday Emma Thomas and Luke Sinclair traveled to Freeman, SD, for their region cross country meet. The top twenty runners from each race earned his or her place at state.

Freshman Emma Thomas ran the girls’ 5k and finished with a time of 22:04.93. Only one other girl was able to beat her, Isabella Brouwer from Andes Central with a time of 21:23.19.

Eighth grader Luke Sinclair ran in the boys’ 5k and finished in tenth place with a time of 20:40.67. The winner of the boy’s race was Thaniel Schroder from Freeman Academy, with a time of 18:03.78.

“I’m really excited that [Luke and I] both made it and I’m hoping to get a good time and do my best at state,” Emma Thomas said.

“Run fast, don’t lose,” Luke Sinclair said.

The runners will both be competing at the State Cross Country Meet on Saturday in Souix Falls, SD at Yankton Trail Park. Sinclair will run at noon and Thomas will run at 1:30 p.m.
