The Gorillas take a win to beat Elkton-Lake Benton to advance to the second round of playoffs. They now have 21 consecutive wins. The final score was 60-22.

Andy McCance had a total of 163 passing yards and two touchdowns. Jayd VanDerWerff had six receptions for 110 yards averaging 18.33 per reception; his longest catch was a 34 yard touchdown pass adding to his two touchdowns. Caleb Stukel received a 14-yard pass to add to McCance’s 163 passing yards. JJ Beck also got a reception for 8 yards to get a first down. Blake Boes added 9 yards for McCance, and Tyler Murray 22-yards.

For rushing McCance had 126 total yards and 3 touchdowns. Beck had 100 yards for 2 touchdowns, and Stukel had 86 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns also.

On the defense Beck had 9 tackles, 2 assists, and 2 sacks, with 3 tackles for a loss of 26. Raven Songer had 6 tackles and 4 assists with 1 tackle for a loss of 1. Stukel added 5 tackles and 2 assists, and VanDerWerff had 4 tackles and 1 assist. Murray had 3 tackles and 2 assists. Boes had 2 interceptions with 23 return yards, and Stukel had a pick-6 for 54 yards.

The Gorillas play against the 5-4 Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds tonight for the second round playoff game. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at the Mike Dacy Field. Activity passes are not valid tonight; adult tickets will be $7 and students $5.
