The Lady Gorillas competed in the SPC tournament on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in which they placed seventh. On Thursday the Lady Gorillas took on the Burke/South Central Cougars losing the game 59-17. They came back on Friday and played the Colome Cowgirls losing a tight game. The final score of that game was 55-44. Junior Allison Ekroth put up a double-double on the night for the Lady Gorillas, with 15 points and 10 rebounds. On the third day of the tournament the Gorillas came out hot against the Stanley County Lady Buffalo, winning the game 51-32.

Ekroth led the Lady Gorillas in scoring on the third day with 14 points followed by sophomore Emma Schweigert with 13. Senior Ivy Ekroth and junior Hannah Juracek both contributed 7 points apiece to the win. Senior Megan Preslicka led the team in assists with 7 followed by Juracek with 5.

On the defensive side for the Lady Gorillas on the third night A. Ekroth led in rebounds with 10 earning another double-double for the tournament. Juracek, freshman Megan Wernke, and A. Ekroth all had 1 block apiece on the day for the Lady Gorillas. Juracek also led the team in steals with 3 followed by Preslicka and junior Nika Eagle Star with 2 apiece.

Ekroth said, “It felt good to have 2 double-doubles and then come out the third day and get the win.”

The Lady Gorillas’ next game will be tonight against the Trip-Delmont/Armor Nighthawks with a C game starting at 6:30.
