Last Monday the Gregory Spikers fell short in their game against the Andes Central Dakota Christian Thunder, losing the match 3 sets to 0, the first set was 25-18, the second was 25-14, and the third was 25-14.

The Spikers were led by junior Allison Ekroth with 4 kills followed by senior Jacey Feyereisen, Senior Ivy Ekroth, and junior Hannah Juracek all with 3 kills apiece. The Spikers served for 76% overall led by junior Maddie Eklund who served 9/9, junior Lauren Svatos who served 6/6, and freshman Megan Warnke who served 2/2 all with 100% serving.

On the defensive side for the Spikers, Eklund led in serve receptions with 16, followed by I. Ekroth with 8. Sophomore Amber Swan, and junior Nika Eagle Star both had 6. Eklund also led the team in digs with 10 followed by Svatos with 8 and sophomore Alexa Hannahs with 6.

Juracek said, “We played well and have been improving throughout the year. We are very excited for districts and hope to make a run and make a few upsets. We want the momentum from playing so well the last few games to take us deep into the postseason.”

The Spikers play the Marty Braves in the first round of districts at home tomorrow starting at 7:00 p.m.
