Gorilla Marching Band competes in last competition for the year

The high school marching band traveled to Chamberlain for the River City Band Festival Saturday Oct. 10, and came home with second place in the AAA division.

The band fell short to Platte with only having 817 points while Platte had 894 points. Mt. Vernon/Plankinton placed 3rd in the AAA division class with the score of 815 points. In the music category the band scored 314 out of 400, for marching it scored 227 out of 300, and general effects 276 out of 300. The color guard scored 70 out of 75.

Other places the band traveled to are Burke to march in its homecoming parade and to Platte for a competition, where it placed first. The band also marched at Gregory’s homecoming parade and performed at the halftime show of the homecoming football game.

The marching Gorillas wrapped up their season in Chamberlain and now will be focusing on concert band to prepare for holiday concerts.
