Gorillas run past Rangers

The Gorillas ran past the Rangers when they traveled to Hill City on Friday. The final score of the game was 50-12 with the Rangers only scoring in the 4th quarter. The Gorillas dominated the whole game scoring 20 of their points in the 1st quarter, 23 in the 2nd, and 7 in the 4th.

Leading the Gorillas in all purpose yards was junior Robert Vomacka with 165 total yards. Vomaka also led the Gorillas in scoring with 4 touchdowns. Sophomore Jayd VanDerWerff also had 2 touchdowns, and sophomore Blake Boes had 1.

On the defensive side for the Gorillas, junior Triv Vosika, and freshman Tyler Murray led with 4 tackles each followed by VanDerWerff and sophomore Jon Bakke with 3 tackles apiece. Senior Sean Kafka had 2 interceptions on the night followed by VanDerWerff with 1.

Senior Oliver Thieme broke a 9 year old record by kicking 3 field goals on the season breaking Nate Stukels 2 field goals in 2006.

Vomacka said, “We played a good game offensively and got it done defensively and hope we can build on that going into the Kimball White Lake game and into the playoffs.”

The Gorillas last regular season game is at home against the Kimball-White Lake Wildkats on Friday starting at 7:00 p.m.
