Gregorys Top Students are Competing in the Q107.3 Radio Quiz Bowl

Samantha Timanus, Journalism

Five students have been selected to represent our school for the Q1073 Radio Quiz Bowl. Teachers nominate juniors and seniors to compete for demonstrating a strong work ethic and ability to understand and retain information. This year’s team is composed of Aaron Sundquist, Peyton Feyereisen, and team captain Isaac Barreto. The alternate team members are Evan Juracek and Matt Sinclair. Rhonda Graber is the team’s coach.

The quiz bowl is a series of contests among 32 different schools. It is double elimination and the first few contests are held over the air. The students are able to participate from their schools through the telephone.

The boys’ first competition was against Hanson High School, who won the entire quiz bowl last year. Gregory beat Hanson 3-1. To listen to that quiz bowl on podcast, visit and click on ‘Quiz Bowl Brackets.’ The team’s next event is scheduled for Monday, November 19 against Ethan High School.

As competitions continue, only eight teams will remain. These eight teams will travel to the Pepsi-Cola Theatre in Mitchell on Jan, 12th, 2019 for finals. Last year, Gregory placed fourth and won $250. This year, they will strive for first place to win a grand prize of $1000.
