The local oral interpretation competition will be held next Tuesday in the band room starting at 7 p.m. The participants have been working to prepare their pieces for six weeks by scheduling practices with Coach Ronda Graber during and after school. The participants have the choice of six categories to participate in: poetry, serious, duets, humorous, storytelling, and oratory. A selected five also perform a readers theater piece. This year there are two pieces in poetry, one in oratory, three in serious, two in humorous, one in storytelling, and five in duets. The readers theater group consists of Blake Boes, Cade Fortuna, Isaac Barreto, Lindsey Wenger, and Mollie Schmidt.

After the local competition, the top placers will compete at Cedar Shores in Oacoma for districts on Nov. 6. Only one piece from each category from the local competition will be chosen to move on to districts.

“We have been working for six weeks now and at times it’s difficult to find practice times because everyone is involved in other activities, but I think we will be ready on Tuesday. Come out for some great entertainment next Tuesday,” Coach Graber said.
