Opt Out Discussed at School Board Meeting

Sam York and Shelby

On Monday, April 8, the school board met for the monthly school board meeting. Jason Bartling attended the meeting to discuss mats for the track. He has received $5,250 in pledges that will cover the cost of the mats and allow parents and fans to watch from the track. There will be further discussion of the mats at the next meeting.

The board also discussed hiring Holly Whitney as a middle school track coach and an opt out. Holly Whitney was approved to be an assistant middle school track coach and has already started with there being 49 middle school students participating this year. An opt out was the main discussion at the meeting. The consensus at the meeting was to take a more in-depth look at it and move forward.

The next school board meeting will be on Tuesday, May 14, at 6:00 p.m.
