Students Start STEP Tests

Allison Sundquist

The halls of GHS will be filled with “Quiet! Testing in progress” signs between April 1 and April 19 due to the Dakota STEP Tests.

The STEP tests assess each of the students learning over the course of a year.  The tests are used to show what standards have been mastered in the classroom.  Every public school in the state of South Dakota will use this test to assess their students.

Math is tested in grades 3-8, 11.  Language arts are tested in grades 3-8, 11.  Science is also tested but only in grades 5, 8, 11.

High school students will be starting next week.
