Choir Receives Standing Ovation

Sam York

On Sunday, March 17 at 1:00 a.m. band and choir students left on a 36 hour bus ride to Orlando, Florida. The buses arrived at Daytona Speedway Monday morning where everybody ate and then checked out the speedway. Students had a chance to buy souvenirs and gifts for their families back home. The group then went to the beach and had a barbeque before heading to their hotel, for the night. Tuesday, March 19 was spent at the MagicKingdomPark in Walt Disney World. The students departed for the hotel after watching the light show and fireworks, which closed the park for the night. Wednesday the group was at Hollywood Studios for the morning and then left to perform at downtown Disney.

The band performed first at 2:45 p.m. followed by the choir at 4:00 p.m. The choir performed six songs and did an amazing job at drawing in the crowd. During the last song “Song for the Unsung Hero” the crowd stood up and sang along. In return Disney World gave each band and choir member a Disney World bag and gave the school a trophy. After the performances the students went back to Hollywood Studios and then left to eat at CiCi’s pizza before going back to the hotel.

Thursday was spent at Epcot going on rides and shopping, and that night the group watched another light show before leaving. Students were expected to be packed and ready to leave  Friday morning and spent the rest of the day at Universal Studios, which is famous for their rollercoaster rides and the HarryPotterPark. The group ate at the Nascar Café before loading up and heading home. The buses had to take a different route back because of a snow storm and arrived in Gregory at 1:00 a.m., Sunday.

The Orlando trip gave the students a nice break from school and proved to be an amazing trip. The students would like to thank the community members and the Music Boosters who helped make the trip possible. The trip was something that hopefully everybody will remember and enjoy talking about in the future.
