Gorillas compete in Howard Wood Relays

Eight athletes from the Gregory High School Track Team competed in the Howard Wood Relays on Friday and Saturday. There were teams from the surrounding states including North Dakota and Minnesota.

The boy’s 4×100 meter relay team ran a 47.25 placing 14th, and the 4×200 meter relay team placed 15th with a time of 1:39.10. The 4×400 meter relay team placed the best out of the relays coming in 9th with a time of 3:39.29. In open events Joseph Veskrna placed 25th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.87 and 46th in the 110 hurdles with a time of 18.03. Aaron Voigt placed 27th in the 2 mile run lowering the school record he had already broken this year by 10 more seconds with a 10:12.48. Voigt also qualified for the state track meet in the 1 mile with a time of 4:45.91 placing 44th. Lauren Svatos ran a 19.82 in the 100 meter hurdles placing 67th and a 52.97 in the 300 hurdles placing 57th.

The Gorillas next meet will be today in Winner starting at 2:30 p.m. The season is wrapping up and after today the last meet will be regions which will be held in Gregory on the 19th starting at 10:00 a.m.
