A New Start to Cross Country

Rhiannon Roubideax, Kristen Eagle Star

When asked about how she felt about the upcoming season, Coach Voigt stated she was excited and happy that there are several more kids out this season. Eight kids are out this year with two more undecided. Her goals and expectations for the season include seeing times improve every week and getting stronger as a team.

Starting with one 6th grader Megan Warnke, two 7th graders Aaron Voigt and Max Klundt, one freshman Molly Grasser, two sophomores Bekka Schell and Sam Voigt, and one senior Bonnie Whitney, the team has increased by a lot this year.  With most of her team being new, the first meet is going to be an experience for herself and a lot of the team.

When asked Coach Voigt said they are preparing themselves a little differently this year. They run at either the golf course or the park at 6:15 AM due to the warm weather after school. She is always looking for ways to increase their strength and speed. Coach Voigt says she doesn’t know any of the individual goals except to keep improving as a team. Their first meet is August 30th  in Winner, SD at 10:00 AM.
