Burke/Gregory Storm Dominates Ainsworth Tournament

On Sat, Feb. 1 the Burke/Gregory Wrestling Team traveled to compete in the Ainsworth Invitational. Burke/Gregory Storm won the tournament by 13 points, beating 13 teams. B/G Storm had 209 points totals. The team won six out of 14 weight classes in the tournament, the most the team has ever won at a tournament. 

Wrestling in the 106 weight class, Jackson Bauld placed third, scoring 10 points for the team. He wrestled three times, losing one round and receiving a bye for the other,  making it 4-1. In the 113 weight class Owen Hanson placed first, scoring 24.5 points. He won all three rounds. In the 126 weight class Zach Eklund scored five points for the team, winning two rounds and losing two matches. Jhett Eklund scored four points for the team. He won 4 rounds and lost one. Mason Hood placed third in the weight class 138, scoring 16 points. He won four matches and lost one. Jackson Eklund won the 145 weight class, receiving 25.5 team points. Frank Even won the 152 weight class, scoring 26 points for the team. Jordan Vosika placed third in the 160 weight class. He received 18 team points and won three out of four matches. Wrestling in the 170 weight class, Finn Hanson placed first, winning all of his matches and scoring 24 points for the team. Tucker Even placed third in the 182 weight class, winning two matches and losing one. He scored 12 points for the team. Also in the 182 weight class Gunnar Stephens placed fourth, winning 1-2. Wrestling 195 Taron Serr placed first, winning all of his matches and scoring 22 points. Rhoss Oliver placed first in the 220 weight class, scoring 22 points.

“It’s always a blast going down there because Nebraska fans are always intrigued by our style of wrestling. It’s definitely different from theirs,” said Coach Hansen.
