Spikers Compete at the Bon Homme Tournament.

One Sept. 21 the Gregory Spikers traveled to play in the Bon Homme volleyball tournament. The Spikers defeated Bon Homme in three sets, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23. For the second game, the Spikers lost against Beresford in two sets 7-25, 21-25. Coming back from that loss the Spikers won against Custer in three sets 17-25, 25-17, 25-21. For their last game, the Spikers lost against Parker in two sets, 14-25, and 20-25.
The Spiker’s first game of the tournament against Bon Homme was very close, the Spikers ended up on top. Starting with offense, Brynn Hylla served 20/20 times, with two aces, and scored 14 points. Jaslee Kerner had 16/16 serves, two aces, and scored 10 times. Jessy VanDerWerff served 15/15, with one ace and scored nine times. Sydney Svatos had 20/25 hits with seven kills. J. VanDerWerff hit the ball 11/18 and killed it five times. Brooklyn VanDerWerff set the ball 33/37 times and assisted the kills 10 times. Setting the ball, 27/32 times Hylla assisted the kill four times. For defense, JayCee Bartling and Svatos both had one assist block. BriLee Peck and Bartling both had nine digs and right behind them J. VanDerWerff, Hylla and kodi Timanus had seven digs.
The Spikers lost against Beresford in their second game. For offense, J. VanDerWerff had 11/11 serves with two aces, and seven points. Serving 10/10 times Kerner had one ace and six points. Attacking the ball 7/11 times, Svatos killed the ball four times. J. VanDerWerff attacked the ball 11/14 times and killed the ball four times. B. VanDerWerff set the ball 24/27 times, and had seven assists. Right behind her Hylla set the ball 13/16 times, and assisted three times. For defense, J. VanDerWerff dug the ball eight times, and Svatos dug the ball five times.
Coming back from the loss, the Spikers won against Custer in a three-set game. For offense, Peck served 18/19 with two ace serves and scored 14 points. Serving 17/19 times Svatos had two ace serves and 13 points. Attacking the ball 14/15 times, Mya Determan killed the ball six times. Svatos had 22/27 attacks and seven kills. B. VanDerWerff set the ball 30/33 times and assisted a kill six times. Hylla set the ball 15/21 times and assisted a kill six times. For defense, Makayla Thomas had one solo block, and S. Svatos had two solo blocks. B. Peck and B. VanDerWerff dug the ball seven times each.
The Spiker’s last game of the tournament was against Parker. Parker won in two sets. For offense VanDerWerf had 8/9 serves, one ace and scored five times. Hylla had 9/9 serves, one ace, and five points. J. VanDerWerff killed the ball four times, and both Svatos and Determan killed it three times. Hylla set the ball 14/14 times and assisted the kill three times. B. VanDerWerff set the ball 22/24 times and assisted the kill two times. For defense, B. VanDerWerff dug the ball eight times and both J. VanDerWerff and Hylla dug it five times.
