On Wednesday, March 27, 21 Gregory students traveled to Burke Elementary School for Reading Olympics. In order to be in Reading Olympics, they had to read ten books within three months, pass tests over these books, and journal about them.
They took five teams with only two of them placing. Second graders including Jacob Klein, David Biggins, and Vivian Nguyen came home with a first place trophy. The third graders, Mac and Mitch Zimbelman, Charissa Ring, and Miley Janak placed second. The fourth grade team consisted of Kamery Peabody, Joslyn Pettit, Issac Hull, and Dyreese Spotted Elk. The fifth graders were Asia VanDerWerff, Lincoln Juracek, Adyson Stukel, Aubree Opp, Samantha Parkis, and Madi Graber. The seventh graders Kaydence Klein, London Flakus, Morgan Opbroek, and Mya Determan participated also. They were all coached by Mrs. Holly Whitney, the Gregory School librarian.
