Gorillas Fall to Trojans and Huskies

Last Friday, the Gorillas played the Parkston Trojans at home. The final score was 63-50. In the first quarter the teams were tied 14-14, in the second quarter the Gorillas were down by two, in the third quarter the Gorillas were losing by eight.

On the offensive side, the team was 17/59 for 29% from the field. The team was 9/9 for 100% from the free throw line. The team was also 7/25 for 28% from the three point line. Coy Determan and Tommy Determan each had 17 points followed by Grant Thomas with six points. T. Determan had 5/10 offensive rebounds.
On the defensive side, the team had five steals, three blocks, and a total of 25 rebounds. T. Determan had six defensive rebound and Thomas had five.

Last Saturday, the Gorillas traveled to Mitchell to play in the Corn Palace against the Bridgewater/Emery Huskies. The final score was 62-35. C. Determan had 15 points to end the game.

On the offensive side, the team was 6/12 for 50% from the field. The team was 1/4 for 25% from the free throw line. The team was 4/22 for 18% from the three throw line. C. Determan’s 15 points were followed by T. Determan’s 14. Thomas and Bryan Eagle Star each had two offensive rebounds and T. Determan only had one.

On the defensive side, the team had three steals, two blocks, and a total of 30 rebounds. T. Determan had eight rebounds, Garret Roeder had six, and C. Determan had five.

“I think that our team will start winning now that we have all the hard teams out of the way; we hope that we win regions,” Coy Determan said.

On Friday, the Gorillas and Lady Gorillas will be traveling to Scotland. The girls’ C team game will start at 4 p.m., and the rest of the games will follow.
