Lady Gorillas Lose Close Game Against Kimball/White Lake

Last Thursday, the Lady Gorillas Basketball Team lost to Kimball/White Lake by one point. The final score was 45-44. The team had an overall shooting average of 34% and a 46% free throw average. The Lady Gorillas collectively had 23 rebounds, 8 assists, 12 steals, 11 turnovers, and 16 personal fouls.

Jessy Jo VanDerWerff scored eleven points, making four out of 15 field shots and one out of two free throws. This gives J. VanDerWerff a 27% shooting average and a 50% free throw average. Gracie Kenzy made four out of eleven of her field shots for eight points and a 36% shooting average. Megan Warnke scored seven points making two out of six of her field shots and three out of five of her free throws. This gave Warnke a 33% shooting average and a 60% free throw average. Sydney Svatos scored seven points making three out of six of her field shots and one out of two of her freethrows for a 50% shooting average and a 50% free throw average. Brooklyn VanDerWerff made two out of eight shots and one out of one free throws for five points. B. VanDerWerff had a 25% field shot average and a 50% freethrow average.

Senior Megan Warnke grabbed 12 out of the teams’ 23 rebounds and three assists. Sydney Svatos had four rebounds and two steals. Gracie Kenzy had three rebounds and two steals. Jessy Jo VanDerWerff took one rebound, four assists, and four steals. Brooklyn VanDerWerff had two rebounds, one assist, and two steals.

 “We played hard, aggressively, and we worked hard. We were playing as a team and everyone was very excited, it was fun. Tonight, I hope we do the same thing we did in Kimball: play fast, hard, and as a team,” Jessy Jo VanDerWerff said.

The Lady Gorillas’ next game is today in Gregory against Chamberlain with C-team starting at 5:15.
