Gorillas Take First Victory from Bennett County at Snowball Classic

On Saturday, Dec. 29, the boys’ varsity basketball team played a game against Bennet County in Winner at the Snowball Classic. Gregory won this game 58-45, making this its first win of the season. Overall, Gregory made 39% of their field goals and 82% of their free throws.

Tommy Determan was the top scorer of the game, scoring 23 points with a 39% field goal average and a 100% free throw percentage. The second highest score, Coy Determan, was right behind T. Determan with 22 points. C. Determan had a 53% field goal average and a 50% free throw average.

Evan Juracek scored 9 points with a 33% field goal average and a 100% free throw average. Grant Thomas scored 4 points with a 29% field goal average and did not make his one attempted free throw.

Coy Determan had 6 rebounds and 6 assists, Grant Thomas had 4 rebounds and 8 assists, Bryan Eagle Star had 7 rebounds, Tommy Determan had 6 rebounds, and Evan Juracek had 2 rebounds and 4 assists.

“It was good to finally get a win; I think that takes some of the pressure off the kids. We were so close the last three games before that. We played a little inconsistent, but overall we did pretty good things throughout the game and were able to stay in the lead. Although the lead shrunk a little bit in the fourth quarter, we extended and came out with a 14-point win,” Coach Determan said.
