The Gregory Gorillas went to Platte last Friday and left with a win, ending the game a little bit early due to the mercy rule. 6:03 was left in the fourth when Gregory won. The final score was 60-7.

Andy McCance finished the game with 137 passing yards and 215 rushing yards with 3 touchdowns and a 2-point conversion. Blake Boes ended with 93 receiving yards, contributing to McCance’s passing yards. Caleb Stukel racked up 55 rushing yards and 14 receiving yards.

Jon Bakke got in for a touchdown from a 30 yard pass from McCance leaving 7:17 left in the first quarter. For the next touchdown McCance went in from a 65 yard scamper. Bakke then got the ball and ran in for a 7 yard touchdown with 2:10 on the board. Platte received its only points on the board on a 44 yard pass. In the start of the second quarter, the first touchdown came from a 12 yard run from McCance in the first minute. Then Boes caught a 39 yard touchdown pass with 10.49 left. McCance had a 7 yard touchdown run to end the first half. The Gorillas second half points came from Jackson Eklund with a 5 yard dive and from Luke Murray with a 1 yard plunge ending the game early.

Defensively, JJ Beck led in tackles with 7 tackles and 3 assists. Tyler Murray added 5 tackles, with one for yard loss, and 4 assists. Bakke had 4 tackles, with one for yards loss, and 2 assists. Raven Songer finished with 3 tackles and 3 assists. Matt Sinclair had 1 fumble recovery.

The Gorillas will play at home this Friday against the 4-3 Wolsey/Wessington Warbirds at 7:00 PM.
