Gregory music performs in large group contest

The Gregory High School Band and Choir attended large group contest in Chamberlain last Wednesday. The day started off with the jazz band, which scored an average of 30.3 points. Gregory scored second highest of the five Jazz bands they competed against. Platte-Geddes was the only jazz band that scored higher with an average of 31. The others were Chamberlain, with an average of 28.7; Parkston, with an average of 26.3; and Pierre, with 25.7.

The next to perform for Gregory was the mixed choir. They averaged 33.3 points scoring fourth highest overall out of all the groups competing. The only schools to score higher were Chamberlain, Pierre, and Platte-Geddes.

The 8va choir for Gregory scored an average of 30.3 points, coming in second of the four competing chamber choirs. Pierre came in first.

The final group from Gregory to perform was the mixed band. They scored an average of 29.7 points coming in fifth place out of 18 concert bands competing.

Director Jared Opp said, “I thought we had a really good day with great performances, and Gregory has a lot to be proud of.”
