On December 6 and 7 the Gregory Oral Interp. Team traveled to Yankton to compete in the 2019 state festival held at Yankton High School. The team competed in four different categories: humorous, storytelling, duets, and serious.

Salma Serr was the first one to perform at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Serr competed in the humorous category with her piece “The Fart that (Almost) Altered My Destiny” and received a superior. To receive a superior at state, two of the three judges must give the contestant a superior.  Next Christian Spann performed at 6:00 p.m. with his piece “The Man in the Red Bandana” in the storytelling category and received an excellent. On Saturday morning, Christian Spann and Keeley Klein performed their duet “The Marriage Counselor” and received an excellent. Keeley Klein performed her piece “Plain Girl Versus the Demon” in the serious category and received an excellent.

“My last state oral interp. experience was really cool. I enjoyed it, and I’m really happy about my results. I am excited to see who will make it next year,” said Senior Salma Serr.
