Boys Golf Team Takes Second Consecutive First Place Trophy

Last Friday, Apr. 27, the golf team participated in the Bon Homme/Scotland Invitational with girls competing in Scotland and boys in Tyndall. The boys’ team, which consists of Jayd VanDerWerff, Jon Bakke, JJ Beck, and Eli Fogel, finished in first place for the day. This was their second consecutive team first place finish.

For boys, Beck and Bakke both finished the day with an 81. This earned Beck a second place finish and Bakke a third place finish. J. VanDerWerff placed fourth coming in right behind Beck and Bakke with an 85. Fogel, a seventh grader, golfed a 98 which earned him a 26th placing.The girls’ team consisted of Brooklyn VanDerWerff and Emma Schweigert. B. VanDerWerff finished 12th with a 103. Schweigert placed 19th with a 114.

The varsity boys’ team will head to Platte and the varsity girls will travel to Burke tomorrow. Both of these tournaments will start at 10 a.m.

On Tuesday, Apr. 24, both the junior varsity and middle school teams traveled to Platte to compete in a nine hole tournament. This tournament was the first of the year for these kids.

The junior varsity team consisted of Mollie Schmidt, Matilda Lundquist, Sami Whitney, and Haley Wenger. Wenger golfed a 67 for a tenth place finish. Schmidt came in right behind her with a 68 and finished with 11th.

The middle school team consisted of Kade Braun, Trey Murray, Dori Bruns, Kaydence Klein, Wyatt Weller, Eli Barreto, and Jamison VanDerPol. Murray earned a sixth place finish with a 51. Braun golfed a 53 which was good for a ninth place finish.
