Reading Olympics were held in Burke on Wednesday. The towns who attended were Burke, Colome, South Central, Winner, and Gregory. In preparation for the event, the kids who competed were required to read ten books.

Gregory took 43 kids from second grade to seventh grade. Gregory second grade 2 placed first. That team consisted of Adyson Stukel, Lincoln Juracek, Mason Janak, Cheyenne VanDerLinden, and Asia VanDerWerff. Gregory second grade 1 took second place. That team was made up of Dani Timanus, Madisan Graber, Piper Bartlett, and Ella Sperl. The sixth grade class took two teams, and the team who took first was made up of Coy Determan, Grace Kenzy, and Shaylee Serr. The other sixth grade team took second. That team consisted of Christian Spann, Dakota Timanus, and Dillyn Harsin. The last team to place for Gregory was the seventh grade team, who placed third. It was a small team of Keeley Klein and Samantha Timanus.

Coach Holly Whitney said, “I feel that all the kids did well and competed hard. They all put in the necessary work by reading and understanding all the books.”
