Gorilla boys track team takes home second in Corsica

The Gorillas traveled to Corsica yesterday for the Jaguar Invitational. There were eight teams competing in the meet. The Boys placed second with 120 points behind Corsica/ Stickney which had 160. The girls placed 6th. The Corsica/Stickney girls also won the meet with 167 points.
The boy’s 3200 meter relay team and the medley relay team both placed 4th with a time of 9:58. Blake Boes placed 4th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.76 and 3rd in high jump with a jump of 5’9″. Peyton Feyereisen also placed 5th with a time of 18.98 and Joseph Veskrna 6th in the 110 hurdles with a time of 19.94. Veskrna also placed 2nd in the 300 hurdles with a time of 43.95. Johan Anderson placed 3rd in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.82. The 800 meter relay team placed 4th with a time of 1:41. Aaron Voigt placed 3rd in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:49 and 2nd in the 3200 with a time of 10:40. The freshman/sophomore 400 meter relay team placed 2nd with a time of 50.39, and the varsity 400 meter relay team also placed 2nd with a time of 47.09. Jayd VanDerWerff placed 3rd in the 300 hurdles with a time of 44.1 and 1st in long jump with a jump of 19’6.5″. Triv Vosika placed 2nd in high jump with a jump of 5’9″, and Robert Vomacka placed 3rd in triple jump with a jump of 37’9″. The freshman/sophomore 1600 meter relay team placed 2nd with a time of 4:07, and the varsity 1600 team placed 1st with a time of 3:41.08.
The girl’s 800 meter relay team placed 6th with a time of 2:05, and the 400 meter relay team placed 3rd with a time of 58.95. The 1600 meter relay team placed 5th with a time of 4:44.01, and the weight relay, which is a 400 meter relay with shot put and discus throwers, placed 2nd with a time of 57.62. Megan Warnke placed 3rd in high jump with a jump of 4’8″, and Ivy Ekroth placed 5th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:56. Lauren Svatos placed 1st in the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles with times of 17.22 and 53.26, and Jacey Feyereisen placed 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.57 and 4th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 57.42.
The Gorilla Track Team’s next meet will be Saturday, April 30, in Platte/Geddes starting at 10:00 a.m.
