On Saturday the Gregory Competitive Cheer and Dance team traveled to Winner to compete against Platte/Geddes, Dakota Valley, Winner, and Lyman teams. Due to injury and absence, only the dance routines competed. The final outcome was third place. The dance average was 134.50.

The team started with the hip-hop routine, earning many compliments on the team’s transitions and music. They were critiqued on their precision and energy; judges said they need to tighten motions and make their arms strong. This routine earned a score of 131 with no deductions.

Next the ream performed the kick routine. The judges commented that they need to work on their pointed toes. There was need for a bit more difficulty, such as adding a few jumps or turns. They added that the team had a cute ending. They scored 132.5 with no deductions.

With the highest score for the Gorillas at the competition, the last routine was pom, earning 140 points with no deductions. The girls were complimented on their toe touches and their confidence level during this routine. Judges said that they should make motions stronger and work on pointing their toes during the kick line.

Mrs. Baldwin said, “The girls performed as best as they could under pressure. I believe by the end of the season in Platte they will have a great performance ready to go.”

The next competition will be held 2:00 p.m. this Saturday at Douglas.
