Gorillas De-Claw Cougars


On Friday, August 24, the mighty Gorillas traveled to Cougar territory and came up big winning 49-12. On the opening drive Jaden Bartling was sacked and fumbled which led to a Cougar touchdown. Things did not look good from there for the Gorillas but on that kickoff Paul Taggart returned the ball for an 86 yard TD. With the help of an extra point by Cody Jung, Gregory was on top 7-6. On the offensive side of the ball Sophomore Jonah Beck led the team with 10 rushes for 76 yards and a TD. Jaden Bartling also ran the ball 8 times for 61 yards. Bartling was 8-9 in completions for 97 passing yards with 3 TD passes. On the receiving end of those passes, Andrew Taggart had 2 receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown. In total Gregory had 319 yards of offense.


            The defense was led by Brody Boes with 9 tackles including one for a loss of 8 yards. With 7 tackles Kurt Braun had a tackle for a loss of 20 yards and an interception return for 5 yards. Zach Sengelmann added 6 tackles with one for a loss of five yards. On Friday, August 31, at 7:00 the Gorillas face the Colome Cowboys at Mike Dacy Field. That night it is Fire and Policemen Appreciation Night and all fire or policemen will get in free.
